The Old Mill
Artist: Theodore Robinson
Date: ca. 1892
Theodore Robinson (1852-1896) was one of the first American artists to take up Impressionism and became close friends with Monet. He spent several years painting in and around the area of Giverny (Normandy, France), where he lived next door to Monet. He painted this old mill, le Moulin de Chennevières, five or six times. Several of his works are considered masterpieces of American Impressionism.
