Isn't she fabulous ? I love the way she is staring straight out at us from so so long ago. A bit of research (Google-is-my-friend) would suggest with that Empire style dress, lace sleeves and that incredibly delicate and fine lacework shawl she is very early 1800s. Her lace mob cap would indicate maybe the 1820s ,and that she is married - think Mrs Bennet from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. She looks kind and caring and as though she would definitely have a thing or two to tell us, perhaps a warning or two about the Mr Darcy's of the day. When I am looking for images for you to include in your collections it is frustrating not to be able to share the stories and the lives of some of these mystery sitters.
